Ingenico Launch Inge-IDTM

Thursday 4 November 2004 22:56 CET | News

Ingenico is entering the electronic identity market by launching Inge-IDTM, a suite of hardware and software for the e-identity market.

Ingenico thus offers two practical ways to improve identity enrollment and verification in both fixed and mobile environments, thus responding to today’s major security concerns. These solutions are designed for both the public sector (e.g. national and local government, public administration, the police ) and private organisations such as airports and large companies. This represents a potential market of around 2 million sites, with an estimated sales volume of around one billion euros per year by the end of the decade. These new Inge-IDTM solutions result from active collaboration between highly specialized companies, each of them drawing on its core competencies. Cogent systems and ST Microelectronic have supported Ingenico by developing biometric identification systems. Silicomp, an industrial IT engineering and consulting firm, has helped out with integration, while Ingenico has contributed its expertise in the field of secure transaction systems and communications. With its built-in camera and fingerprint collector, the enrollment station is designed to capture biometric data via facial recognition and fingerprinting. It can acquire civil status data through manual data capture or digitization of identity documents. Completing the system is a touchscreen for signature capture. All data collected is stored in a citizen electronic file and can be securely transmitted to authorized bodies. This is the first time that an attractively designed, user-friendly enrollment station incorporates all the functionalities needed for ID data capture and verification such as biometrics and signature capture. The station is also compliant with ICAO standards. The ID control solution is based on the i8500 biometric terminal and an AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) developed by Cogent Systems. The i8500 is a rugged, mobile terminal designed for easy transport by mobile staff like policemen and customs officers. Equipped for biometric fingerprint and/or identity card verification, it uses GSM/GRPS technology for real-time connections to a central identity database.
