Ingenico, has launched the next generation short-range wireless payment terminal -- the Ingenico 7770 for the US market. The I7770, an advanced, powerful, secure and flexible short-range wireless payment terminal, is an outstanding solution for retailers that need to take the transaction to the customer and restaurants for Pay@theTable.

The I7770 provides secure customer-convenient terminal for retailers, QSRs, convenience stores, auto rental or any business that requires a portable payment terminal for fast and secure transaction acceptance. With a single base unit supporting up to seven I7770 terminals it is the perfect payment solution for fine dining establishments that need Pay@theTable for increased customer card security and swift payment finalization. Most importantly, the I7770 features Bluetooth short-range wireless communications, providing advantages in transmission reliability, security and power consumption over other technologies such as Wi-Fi. Designed to operate in noisy frequency environments, Bluetooth uses fast message acknowledgement and a frequency hopping scheme to ensure wireless transmission of information is successful. Bluetooth is a highly secure wireless technology, well suited to transmitting confidential data. Each Bluetooth address is unique with channel changing 1600 times a second making eavesdropping extremely difficult. Bluetooth requires less power than WiFi and Bluetooth communication modules are physically smaller, making Bluetooth an excellent choice for portable payment devices and consumer electronics. With a requirement to operate a terminal for 6 to 8 hours, terminal power consumption used during transmission becomes a major factor.
