Identix Experiences Growth in Adoption and Deployment of ABIS

Tuesday 12 April 2005 10:03 CET | News

The adoption of Identixs ABIS System, a multi-biometric knowledge discovery search engine platform, has increased as the Company anticipated over the course of its fiscal third quarter ending March 31, 2005.

During its fiscal 2005 third quarter, the Company received previously unannounced purchase orders totaling approximately $4 million for ABIS-based programs. Identix expects to recognize revenue from these programs in its fiscal 2005 third quarter through its fiscal 2006 second quarter, which ends December 31, 2005. These programs involve international customers who will be using the ABIS system to develop integrated solutions for nationwide applications such as passenger screening, border protection, law enforcement, national ID, e-passports and other travel-and access-related programs. The identity and location of the customers and programs cannot be disclosed because of confidentiality purposes at the customers request. Identix ABIS system provides a biometric knowledge discovery platform and search engines that enables users to harness the powerful identification and security tools encompassed in the unique physical characteristics of each individual that are inherent in biometrics. The ABIS system integrates Identix proprietary facial recognition and skin biometric technology in an open and modular architecture, providing heightened accuracy and scalability up to 100 million images, ensuring easy system expansion for users as needs grow and lowering future risk. As is the case with the international programs announced today, Identix ABIS system can be integrated into a specific countrys program to provide heightened nationwide security tools, including the ability to rapidly search live captured facial images against designated watch-lists and other existing and/or newly created facial image databases.
