Employed by eBay since February 2002, Briggs most recently has been vice president, consumer marketing at eBay.com in San Jose, CA. In his new role, Briggs becomes the senior-level executive responsible for all of eBay Canadas operations. Briggs will be located in eBay Canadas offices in Toronto. As vice president and country manager of eBay Canada, Briggs has overall responsibility for the ongoing development of eBay Canada, including operations, sales and marketing, and building the eBay brand and community in Canada. Founded in April 2000, eBay.ca is Canadas leading online retail property as measured by both unique visitors and the time spent on any Canadian retail site. (ComScore March 2004). Prior to his appointment to eBay Canada, Briggs held the position of vice president, consumer marketing at eBay.com. At eBay, Briggs led the brand, advertising, consumer research, promotion and entertainment marketing efforts for the company, including the development of the do it eBay campaign. This advertising campaign earned Briggs Brandweeks Marketer of the Year award in 2003, and was also on the Best of 2003 lists of USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and Advertising Age. Before joining eBay, Briggs was one of the founders and Chief Marketing Officer of OurHouse.com. Before this venture, he was Director of Worldwide Brand Strategy for IBM Corporation, where he was responsible for the companys brand positioning and cross-corporate marketing integration and co-authored the marketing strategy for the companys e-business campaign. Briggs also worked for six years at Pepsi-Cola, most recently as Marketing Director for Brand Pepsi. After a two-year assignment, former eBay.ca country manager Todd Madeiros has been promoted to senior director, international acquisition, strategy and execution for eBay Inc. in San Jose, CA.
