EDS has signed a eight-and-half-year, $1.1 billion managed network services outsourcing agreement to integrate the communications infrastructure for recently acquired FleetBoston Financial into Bank of Americas state-of-the-art voice and data network. EDS assumed responsibility for the Bank of America network in early 2003 as part of a 10-year, $4.5 billion contract. Once the integration is complete, Bank of Americas voice and data network will connect more than 180,000 associates, nearly 5,700 retail banking centers spanning 29 states and the District of Columbia, more than 16,500 ATMs, and facilitate Internet and telephone banking. In February 2003, EDS began transforming Bank of Americas nationwide voice and data communications infrastructure into a stronger and more flexible one-stop shop for voice and data services. EDS will provide these same services, including secure telecommunications and networking solutions using voice-over IP technology and helpdesk services for the additional 1,600 banking center sites, plus ATMs and other locations. As a part of the agreement, approximately 150 former Fleet associates will transition to EDS.
