The ID PEOPLE Awards are presented to the outstanding individuals of the ID Community who have distinguished themselves in 2004 for their vision, commitment, leadership and achievements in fostering the deployment of advanced ID concepts. Lt. Col. David Martin receives the ID Achievement Award, assigned to the individual who has led a large-scale project that has tangibly demonstrated the benefits that can be achieved in the field of auto ID. Col. Martin helped lead the development of a NATO RFID backbone stretching from the Netherlands and Germany through Uzbekistan and into Afghanistan, and which can be interoperable for joint operations with allied countries, including compatibility with the U.S. Department of Defenses In-Transit Visibility network. He also oversaw the swift extension of the RFID In-Transit Visibility network in the UK to some 60 different nodes, including at supply depots, airports, seaports, railheads and truck terminals.
