Monday 20 October 2003 14:14 CET | News

Diebold has launched its new OPTEVA family of automated teller machines (ATMs) at the Raya World 2003 conference in Egypt. During this event Diebold received several significant orders from some of Egypts leading retail banks including Misr International Bank, Banque du Caire, Commercial International Bank, and Credit Agricole.

Diebold operates in Egypt through its distributor Raya Integration. At the conference, a Diebold Opteva was connected to the National Bank of Egypts (NBE) existing ATM network, allowing delegates to withdraw and deposit cash. The Opteva family includes a through-the-wall, walk-up ATM and a lobby ATM, both with advanced functionality; a through-the-wall and lobby cash dispenser; and a through-the-wall, drive-up ATM. They provide a number of benefits including modular construction, which allows new features to be added in a cost-effective manner, and the largest full-color display in the industry -- providing scope for high-impact video promotions, messages and campaigns, and an intuitive graphical interface that simplifies maintenance functions. One feature that is exclusive to Opteva is the Universal Serial Bus (USB 2.0) architecture. This is an open architecture, which offers significant advantages to financial institutions allowing them to more easily and quickly integrate future technologies. In addition, it facilitates faster transactions through high-speed communications with ATM peripherals. To help protect the assets of financial institutions, the Opteva line features advanced security and fraud prevention mechanisms offered only by Diebold, including a fraud resistant dispenser and card reader as well as a Triple DES-compliant encrypted PIN-pad. Opteva ATMs provide enhanced maintenance options, such as the largest rear operator monitor in the industry with video and touch-screen capabilities, a full keyboard, and software that provides an easy-to-use maintenance interface. Because of Optevas use of Agilis software, terminals feature at-a- glance, easy-to-follow operator instructions, including video-based instructions with step-by-step directions for many maintenance procedures, including cash replenishment and balancing.
