Diebold and First Data Certify IFX Solutions for Self-Service Terminals

Diebold and First Data are certifying their new Interactive Financial eXchange (IFX) applications for automated teller machines (ATMs).

By certifying new functionality, such as IFX-based transactions, Diebold and First Data Debit Services continue to lead the industry in support of emerging technologies by providing customers with a smooth migration to future technologies and a continued level of exceptional value. IFX is an XML-based message protocol, which can become the communication standard across a financial institutions delivery channels. Because IFX fosters interoperability among banking systems, its capable of providing another layer of openness within the realm of financial service solutions. Diebold is strongly committed to the development and adoption of open standards like IFX and fully supports these types of standards with its unique Agilis terminal software, which allows customers to continue leveraging existing infrastructure, while adding new IFX transactions either one at a time or all at once. Through Diebolds IFX-based solutions, both companies will support the transition to open messaging standards, as their customers are ready to upgrade or replace equipment. Based on the leading technologies utilized within Diebolds Agilis software framework, customers can efficiently migrate to emerging standards. Agilis softwares ability to simultaneously support a financial institutions existing infrastructure and emerging standards, including IFX, enables customers to migrate to next-generation technology in a more prudent fashion. First Data expects to be in production with IFX-certified ATMs in third quarter, 2004.
