Desjardins Bank in Florida offers US Merchant Service to Canadian companies

Thursday 17 June 2004 13:48 CET | News

The new US Merchant Service, offered by Desjardins Bank, a Florida-based subsidiary of Desjardins Group, gives Canadian companies that do business south of the border access to a service that enables them to accept credit card payments from their American clientele.

With this service, provided in partnership with Retriever Payment Systems, a leader of direct payment in the United States, Canadian companies obtain an American merchant number without being required to have a place of business in the United States. They can therefore accept US currency payments using VISA or MasterCard for transactions carried out by telephone or mail. All these payments are accumulated in an account at the Desjardins Bank, therefore greatly reducing and simplifying currency exchange transactions. In addition, since each payment is credited to this account 48 to 72 hours after the transaction with the client is posted, cash inflows are accelerated. To open a US currency business account at the Desjardins Bank, Canadian businesses need only contact their Desjardins caisse or Corporate Financial Centre (CFC). This attractively-priced business solution rounds out the range of services offered by Desjardins Bank, which includes financing services, US lock boxes and direct deposits.
