Coupled with CRYPTO-Server 6.1s newly-developed Follow-Me Computing functionality, the UB-1, which is small enough to attach to a key chain, makes it easy for server-based computing (Citrix or Microsoft Terminal Services) users to start a remote single sign-on session by simply inserting their dongle token into a computers USB port and entering their PIN. Then, after logging off by simply removing their token, the user is free to reinsert their UB-1 and enter their PIN at another thick-client or thin-client terminal to resume the same session at exactly the point at which it was suspended (e.g. Cell D3, in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet). The system can also be set by the administrator to lock the machine rather than simply logging off the user. CRYPTO-Server 6.1 couples two factors, something in the users possession (a USB dongle token, a multi-function smart card, a hardware token, or a software token), with something they know (their PIN), to make it simple to positively authenticate all users attempting to access a VPN or Web-based system. The solution generates a one-time password for every log-on attempt, making stolen credentials useless to hackers while simultaneously eliminating the need for users to memorize complicated credentials - significantly reducing help-desk costs associated with resetting forgotten passwords, and the obvious security risk associated with users writing down their credentials. The UB-1 will ship in mid-April, and will have a suggested retail price of $69.00.
