Cognitec Systems and JNSS Launch Access Control System for Nuclear Power Plants

Cognitec Systems and Japan Nuclear Security System Co., Ltd (JNSS) have introduced a newly developed face recognition access control system.

JNSS developed the system based on the well established FaceVACS technology by Cognitec Systems. JNSS delivered its first system to a nuclear power plant in Japan. The advanced functionality allows employees to access high security areas in nuclear power plants through highly advanced facial recognition technology. At the access point, the face of every person is captured by a video camera, the facial features are extracted and compared with the stored features of the claimed person. The process of entering highly restricted areas is thus accelerated and made more secure. As a leading provider of high-grade security systems for nuclear power plants in Japan, JNSS has been introducing biometrics technology to access control systems. Being convinced that facial recognition is apparently the most promising biometrics identification technology for the next generation, JNSS developed application software and hardware based on Cognitecs FaceVACS software.
