Chairman and CEO of AppliedDigital receives ID Spotlight Award

Scott R. Silverman, Chairman and CEO of Applied Digital, is one of the recipients of this years ID PEOPLE Awards, presented in occasion of the ID WORLD International Congress in Barcelona Spain.

The ID PEOPLE Awards are presented to the outstanding individuals of the ID Community who have distinguished themselves in 2004 for their vision, commitment, leadership and achievements, in fostering the deployment of advanced ID concepts. Scott R. Silverman receives the ID Spotlight Award, assigned to the person who has attracted the greatest attention from the media and general public for his revolutionary ideas on the possible applications of auto ID technology. Scott R. Silverman is Chairman of the company that markets VeriChip, the worlds first implantable radio frequency identification (RFID) microchip for human use, which on October 13, 2004 was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for medical uses in the United States. VeriChip is a subdermal RFID device about the size of a grain of rice that can be used in a variety of security, financial, emergency identification and other applications. One application of the VeriChip is the Health Microtransponder System that consists of an implantable RFID microtransponder, an inserter, a proprietary hand-held scanner which links to a secure database containing patient-approved healthcare information.
