CardTech/SecurTech Conference and Exhibition Adds Steven Brill to Keynote Series

Thomson Media Conferences and Exhibitions - 14th Annual CardTech/SecurTech (CTST) Conference, to be held at The Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C., April 26 - 29, 2004, will include a third keynote presenter, Steven Brill, Founder and CEO of Verified Identity Card, and will host the first ever North American Summit on SIM technology.

CTST is the largest U.S.-based smart card, biometrics, and security technology trade show and the leading showcase for technologies that are speeding transactions, protecting identities, securing perimeters and giving marketers a new tool in the fight for consumer loyalty. Keynote Presenter The third day of the CTST conference, Wednesday, April 28th, will feature a keynote presentation by Steven Brill, Founder and CEO of Verified Identity Card, Inc., a company that has created a voluntary, private, biometrically-secure national identification card to allow Americans to get in a fast line at security checkpoints at airports, sports arenas, office buildings, and other facilities. Mr. Brills keynote is titled Striking a New Balance: Managing Risk While Preserving Privacy in The September 12th Era. He has been a Newsweek columnist on all issues related to the aftermath of the September 11 attacks and a consultant to NBC on the same subject. He is the author of AFTER: How America Confronted The September 12th Era (Simon & Schuster 2003). Previously, he was a Chairman and CEO, American Lawyer Media, L.P. and Founder, President, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of COURT TV (Courtroom Television Network), a 24-hour basic cable television channel that began operations across the country in July 1991. SIM AMERICAS Summit Driven by new network deployments and the migration of former Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) subscribers, GSM service providers saw their subscriber base rise by 54 percent to about 26 million in the Americas region during 2002 and SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) technology is a key component of this service. This demand is expected to accelerate. On April 29th, CTST will host the first SIM Americas Summit in North America and feature the largest showcase of SIM card technology in the Americas to accommodate the growing demand. A daylong conference providing an overview of SIM markets and technologies is designed for Wireless Carriers, Application Developers and Card Manufacturers.
