BIO-key Selected by Leading Telecommunications Company

BIO-key International along with its integration partner Vanguard Systems, has been awarded a contract to provide strong user authentication for a leading South American telecommunications company using fingerprint identification.

BIO-keys patent-pending WEB-key authentication technology, combined with BIO-keys powerful, one-to-many identification solution, will be used to positively authenticate any employee using only a finger scan. This provides fast, easy access to the telecommunications companys corporate information portal, the gateway to all company and customer data. WEB-key was chosen over a variety of competing technologies for its combination of accuracy, flexibility, and ease of integration into the companys existing identity management system. The company required that users would be positively identified, credentials could not be shared, and users would not be burdened with carrying additional credentialing devices. Under the companys existing password-based authentication infrastructure, support costs were high and user authentication was deemed inadequate. Competing solutions imposed annual per-user fees of as much as $60, and adding random number tokens made access even more difficult than passwords alone.
