BancTec, is offering an IBM 3890/XP emulation component designed to help alleviate the traditional costs, complexities and limitations of integrating image applications in 3890 environments.

BancTec will integrate and resell SortLogic SYSTEMS IBM 3890/XP Emulation solution, which makes non-IBM sorters -- such as BancTecs high-speed E-Series reader-sorter and multi-function X-Series Model II device -- appear to the customers host as if they were real, direct-connected 3890/XPs. This means that CPCS, SuperMICR or VECTOR users now can execute their check imaging strategies with much greater speed and success, without sacrificing their substantial software investment, upgrading to costly image cameras, or running a separate system to process images. The 3890/XP emulation component provides all 3890/XP capabilities on top of the industry-standard Microsoft Windows platform, allowing customers to easily interface BancTecs check image transports without modifications or edits to their host software. The 3890/XP emulation solution will be available across the breadth of BancTecs transaction processing suite, including its new eFIRST banking check-imaging platform. This initiative is part of BancTecs Electronic Banking Roadmap, a portfolio of products and services specifically developed to meet the unique technology and operations challenges of the emerging check truncation and image exchange environment. By running the 3890/XP emulation component with a solution combining BancTec hardware and software, 3890 users can simplify the deployment and management of mission-critical image-based check capture and clearing applications, as well as achieve higher levels of productivity, flexibility, scalability and redundancy, and protect their significant sorter investments. Anchoring the BancTec image capture hardware family are the E-Series and X-Series Model II lines. The E-Series line offers fully featured, multi-speed reader-sorters that use advanced technology such as an uphill power feed hopper and an intelligent gap management system to deliver optimum productivity and reliability in demanding, high-volume operations. The X-Series Model II, which combines the performance of a high-speed sorter with the flexibility of a workstation offers features designed for check truncation, distributed or remote capture, and check image exchange. Together, the solutions meet the electronic capture and clearing requirements of financial institutions of all sizes to help customers drive emerging Check 21 initiatives, increase data availability, and more efficiently process checks and remittances.
