Atos Origin New credit card authorisation software

Friday 11 June 2004 18:01 CET | News

Atos Worldline has been authorising Visa and MasterCard credit card payments with a new routing and switching system. Sira is an in-house development by Atos Origin and has replaced the previous authorisation system, UM20.

As a standard product, it guarantees cost-effective use for Atos Worldline customers. It is also user-friendly due to its web-based graphical environment. The new system meets all card organisation security requirements associated with the changeover to the EMV standard (MasterCard/Visa) and changes in business and bank infrastructures. The high system flexibility and configurability ensure that, with Sira, it will be possible to respond rapidly to market changes in the future. Sira belongs to the new generation of Atos Origin solutions. The system is based on the Atos Origin Worldline Pay Acquirer Solution (AS) standard product, Business Unit Payment Systems Integration, and was adapted to Atos Wordlines requirements. Sira operates as an acquirer system essentially with credit card-related transactions on the ATMs of major German credit institutions which are submitted via the NVO interface. The core of Sira, Wordline Pay AS, enables unified communication between the national head offices of German banks and international credit card organisations. The card data is first of all checked before the transactions are transferred. In addition, Wordline Pay AS is also used by Atos Worldline customer, B+S Card Service, to process Point Of Sale transactions. Wordline Pay AS is highly flexible. The handling of new payment methods can be configured from an existing pool of functions already in use. For this purpose, the processing steps of a transaction are divided into separate functional components which can be extended or adapted virtually at will. An integrated workflow engine drives the central control of the processing sequence, i.e. the systems response to the various data items contained in the transaction. Unlike conventional systems, master data from the database can also induce an action. In this way, Atos Wordline customers can implement their own business strategies and marketing activities in a timely manner without the need for major expenditure. In addition, the systems up-to-date multi-tier architecture is based on an Oracle relational database and offers a high level of scalability, which makes it possible to upgrade system performance rapidly if required.
