Applied DNA Sciences, has signed a joint development agreement with Thomas Greg & Sons, to participate in the Applied DNA Sciences currency and security printing pilot program.

Thomas Greg & Sons, for more than four decades since the company was founded as a subsidiary of Thomas De La Rue, is one of the oldest printers of securities in the world, offering security products and services to banks, industry, governments, and business. The product line includes currency, lotteries, raffles and games of chance, tax stamps, gift certificates, show and transportation tickets, letters of credit, property titles and share certificates, transportation passes, diplomas and graduation records. The company produces bank cards under licenses from Visa and Master Card and chip-based smart cards and prepaid calling cards. It has developed security features for government events such as elections, academic examinations and the national census. The companies will explore the potential for integrating Applied DNAs technology into additives or coatings for use in paper, film, and printing products that require technology with the highest barrier of security. Applied DNA Sciences DNA-embedded technology can be applied in specific media such as ink, paint, glue, polymers, and labels and incorporated into microchips. The characteristics of the DNA can be read to identify, tag and distinguish genuine products from counterfeits. The program will focus on identifying the best placement, within the security and monetary printing and manufacturing process, to embed the Applied DNA Sciences Marker Technology.
