Both ActivReader Solo and ActivCard Authentication SDK comply with the MasterCard Chip Authentication Program (CAP) smart card standards developed to fight fraud and ensure the compatibility of smart cards and terminals throughout the world. These standards are leveraging the EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) standard used as the underlying platform. ActivReader Solo and ActivCard Authentication SDK enable financial institutions to leverage their EMV implementation to provide customers with secure remote access for online banking and e-commerce applications. -- ActivReader Solo is a MasterCard CAP-compliant, stand-alone smart card reader. When a smart card is read, ActivReader Solo generates one-time passwords for strong two-factor authentication to networks. Eliminating the need for client PC software and designed for cardholder convenience, ActivReader Solo is light, pocket-sized and durable. Its user interface is similar to other familiar personal devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs. Users simply insert their smart card into the device, type in their PIN number and a secure one-time-password is generated. That password allows access to the network from any online terminal, including airport kiosks or Internet cafes, without needing to seek an installed smart card reader. -- ActivCard Authentication SDK is a software development kit that allows retail banks to integrate strong authentication into their online banking systems. The SDK delivers strong authentication capabilities to support the EMV authentication standard delivered through EMV cards and readers as well as support for ActivCard one-time password generating tokens. The SDK includes APIs and integration documentation that enable ActivCard digital identity technology to be seamlessly embedded into the banking access infrastructure.
