Ukash and PayPoint launch age verification scheme for safe spending online

Wednesday 6 February 2008 09:16 CET | News

Provider of alternative ways for people to pay for goods and services online Ukash an UK-based convenience retail bill and cash payment network PayPoint, join efforts in implementing an age verification scheme via the PayPoint terminal touch screen.

“Now, when a consumer asks for Ukash, the retailer will be prompted by the terminal to ask them for proof of age if they appear under 18. If they are under 18, the Ukash voucher they receive will be age restricted, meaning it can’t be used on any websites that require the consumer to be over 18”, explains Mark Chirnside, CEO of Ukash. “In conjunction with the additional age verification checks carried out by our responsible merchants, this provides a level of protection that will reassure parents and other concerned parties about the safety and security of online commerce”, he further states.
