Tuesday 3 June 2014 00:16 CET | News

An online petition has started circulating with the intention to bring PayPal as a payment method on some Nigerian websites.

If the petition goes through, there is the possibility of growth for the Nigerian ecommerce industry, as PayPal could choose for partners existing companies such as Interswitch or Paga, or financial institution such as GTBank, and customers would be able to use PayPal for online transactions.

PayPal could also help safeguard Nigerian customers from online payments fraud, after many reports of internet fraud attributed to the African country.
