Monoprix, Shekel Brainweigh to offer AI-powered shopping

Thursday 15 October 2020 13:09 CET | News

France-based retailer Monoprix has partnered Israel-based weighting technology provider Shekel Brainweigh to introduce an AI-powered autonomous shopping system.

The self-service retail concept will offer 24/7 service. Furthermore, the automated store, called Monop', will offer more than 300 products, including snacking and hygiene items. Users will only need a credit card to enter the store and will validate their shopping basket before exiting. They will not need to pay a cashier.

The concept is currently only accessible to Monoprix employees but will be deployed at a public location by the end of 2020.

Monoprix's parent company, Group Casino, led the project in partnership with Shekel Brainweigh, Orika, Ingenico, and CB Bank and card group, France's national interbank network.
