ICON LASIK, an eye care, sunglass store and surgery center has accepted Bitcoin payments for products and services.

ICON LASIK is going for alternative payments systems to make getting surgery or buying sunglasses at ICON available also for Bitcoin users. Patients interested in paying for services with Bitcoin need to setup an appointment at any of ICON’s locations. Payment can be made with Bitcoin’s mobile wallets to Icon at time of service.

Bitcoin is a descentralised digital currency and payment network. The currency is controlled by cryptography rather than by any corporation or central bank. Created as an open-source software project, Bitcoin enables users to transfer funds instantly to any other Bitcoin account holder in the world.

In recent news, US-based online payment system provider Dwolla has stopped working with virtual currency exchanges and other Bitcoin-related services.
