Braintree launches Extend integrating payments with loyalty and fraud prevention

Braintree, a division of PayPal that provides payment services to online businesses, has launched Extend, a set of tools to integrate payments with other services.

The suite of tools extends Braintree’s payment capabilities by integrating loyalty and reward schemes, adding fraud prevention and contextual commerce – the ability for a merchant to sell an item and take payment on a platform that is not its own. Braintree already offered contextual commerce – one example is the buyable pins on Pinterest.

Braintree is dividing Extend into three basic categories: transaction services, loyalty and reward, and contextual commerce.
