SmartPay, the financial inclusion wallet, has acquired over 250,000 wallet app users and 3,000 merchants across Vietnam in just half a year after its launch.

Payments Cards and Mobile reports that merchants who have been joining the SmartPay ecosystem include individual entrepreneurs, street food vendors, and food and beverage chains. SmartPay is a digital wallet service for merchants and consumers, which offer retail customers digital payments, loans, savings, loyalty programmes, bill payments, money transfers, and data-driven services – all on mobile.

Through this wallet, the access to financial services is facilitated for the unbanked population. Merchants – both SMEs and individual sellers – are enabled acceptance of QR-code payments without additional investments in POS infrastructure. Moreover, SmartPay is relying on WAY4 as the technological platform for its innovative wallet. It manages B2C and B2B wallet accounts, enables acceptance of QR code and NFC payments, and processes card- and account-based transfers online. Also, it automates customer onboarding, claim management and other workflows, ensures security and BI, and provides APIs to integrate with payment schemes and partners.
