The Huntington National Bank to launch CashEdge Popmoney P2P payments service

US-based money transfer services provider CashEdge has entered a partnership with US financial services provider The Huntington National Bank to provide the latter with its Popmoney person-to-person (P2P) online and mobile payments service.

Under the terms of the deal, the service is expected to be offered online via the Huntington Online Banking platform as well as via the Huntington Mobile Banking service by the end of 2011.

Popmoney is set to allow bank customers to send money from their bank accounts using a recipients email address, mobile phone number or bank account information. In addition, the service provides support for text messaging, WAP and downloadable mobile applications.

The bank counts USD 54 billion in assets and over 600 local branches.

In recent news, US electronic payments network operator NYCE has entered an agreement with CashEdge to offer the latter’s Popmoney service to its more than 3,000 financial institution clients.
