In June 2023, Westpac has introduced a new suite of card designs aimed at enhancing accessibility for disabled customers. The designs includes credit cards, debit cards, and pre-paid cards with specific notches on the short edge, allowing users to differentiate between cards through touch.
These notches, square for credit cards, round for debit cards, and triangular for pre-paid cards, enable blind and low vision customers to identify and use the cards correctly. Additionally, the cards feature braille markers to further assist customers in distinguishing between different card types. Westpac planned to gradually introduce these accessible card designs to the market.
