Fleet to Offer Free Online Bill Payment and Introduces Online Check Images and Daily Running Balance

FleetBoston has made three major enhancements to its online banking services, Fleet HomeLink for consumers and Fleet OfficeLink for small business owners.

As of December 1st, Fleet is dropping the monthly $4.50 fee for all customers using online bill payment. The service had previously been free for FleetOne Gold, FleetOne Premier, Private Clients, and small business Platinum accounts only. Now, all customers are eligible for free online bill payment. In addition, dual-sided check images are now available to Fleet HomeLink and OfficeLink customers. This new feature, free to all online customers, enables customers to view the front and back of checks that have cleared, and print hardcopies, if desired. Check images are generally available within one business day of the check posting to the customers account. Online check images will soon be available for checks that have cleared in the past 90 days (currently over 30 days are available, but this will build to 90 days over the next two months). There are also plans underway to extend the amount of online check image history available beyond 90 days. Additionally, all deposit accounts on Fleet HomeLink and OfficeLink will now carry daily running balances, the electronic equivalent of a checkbook register. All banking transactions are displayed in date order along with the resulting account balance for each posted transaction, just as they would appear in a checkbook. Prior to its introduction, the running balance feature was the number one requested enhancement by Fleet customers.
