Etecsa, a Cuba-based operator, has announced plans to release a mobile banking service across the country in 2018.

The service is under testing procedures with 20,000 customers. A new version of the app developed with Cuban banks will be launched in Q1 2018; it will be available for customers with an Android smartphone.

Services include bank transfers, paying utility bills, and checking card and bank balances; from Q1, it will include buying mobile top-ups and paying taxes. Customers would not need an internet connection for all services.
