US-based mobile payment company Tabbedout has launched its mobile payment service in local bars and restaurants across Houston to enable consumers to pay for goods and services with their mobile phones.

The mobile payment app is available on both iPhone and Android smartphones and it allows users to store credit or debit card information on their phones, encrypted and under passphrase protection. Thus, consumers can open and pay their tab from their phones without revealing their credit or debit information to a server.

In recent news, PayPal has entered an agreement with Tabbedout to allow consumers to pay using their PayPal accounts. Under the agreement, PayPal is set to be accepted at bars and restaurants, allowing customers to make payments with their smartphones by entering a PayPal username and password, with no additional hardware needed.
