SingTel teams up with Visa

Monday 5 August 2013 00:10 CET | News

Asian telecommunications operator SingTel has entered an agreement with Visa to incorporate Visa accounts and payment terminals into its mCash mobile payment service.

Under the agreement, Visa prepaid accounts are set to be linked to SingTels NFC service dubbed mCash from early 2014.

The deal will allow SingTel customers in Singapore and Optus customers in Australia to use their smartphones at all Visa payWave NFC payment terminals worldwide. Customers will also be able to use Visa prepaid cards linked to their mCash account to make online purchases.

In recent news, Visa and MasterCard have teamed up to license their respective common US debit technologies to each other to help ease the migration from mag-stripe to EMV chip cards.
