Monday 4 January 2021 12:43 CET | News

The National Payments Corporation of India has announced that RuPay has partnered with RBL Bank to launch RuPay PoS, a payment solution for Indian merchants, in association with PayNearby.

The solution will allow merchants to use NFC-enabled android devices as POS terminals, enabling them to accept contactless payments of up to USD 70.

Customers using RuPay cards or those who have tokenised their RuPay cards can carry out contactless payments for purchases.

Merchants can convert their android device into a POS terminal by updating the PayNearby app.

As a pilot, RuPay PoS will also accept offline transactions with RuPay NCMC. Transactions of USD 3 and below will not require an online authorisation.
