Qlub raises USD 17 mln seed round

Wednesday 2 February 2022 10:01 CET | News

Startup Qlub has secured a USD 17 mln seed financing round co-led by Cherry Ventures and Point Nine Capital, to offer itself as a payment solution for consumers in restaurants.

Qlub enables customers to pay their bills in restaurants by scanning a QR code with their phone. No app or registration is required. Customers can split the bill with their friends and pay it with Apple Pay, credit card or in instalments in a similar manner to BNPL.

The benefits for restaurants include a higher potential turnover of tables, more possibility of tips for wait staff, and more returning customers, according to the company. Qlub also says that the ease of use tends to lead to restaurants getting higher ratings on review sites. The startup has so far launched in UAE, KSA, and India, with additional international markets set to follow in the weeks and months ahead.
