Other cities are set to follow, allowing Italians to purchase bus tickets from any type of mobile phone via a premium SMS, without the need to use bank accounts, credit cards or pre-register personal details online. Netsize is working alongside a number of mobile network operators in Italy, namely Vodafone, WIND, Telecom Italia and H3G.
The Netsize solution enables customers to purchase travel tickets by sending a keyword from their phone to the bus operator. The electronic ticket is received via text and has to be shown to the driver or conductor to permit travel right across the city network. Payment is from the user’s prepaid or mobile phone account.
Netsize is a Gemalto company and an m-commerce services provider. Its mobile payment service is available across 50 countries worldwide and it enables mobile commerce, integrating carrier billing methods, including direct billing.
In recent news, Netsize has entered an agreement with Microsoft.
