Intec sets new benchmark record

Friday 22 April 2005 10:05 CET | News

Intec Telecom Systems, has benchmarked InterconnecT v7, the latest version of its leading intercarrier billing and settlements system. In an eight-hour test, using an HP 64-CPU Superdome server, more than 1.6 billion event data records (EDRs) were processed correctly.

This is several times the current processing requirement of even the world’s largest carriers today. An EDR can represent anything from a standard voice call to the delivery of a sophisticated content-based event. InterconnecT v7 offers innovative ways of reducing the cost of ownership including rating on a bank of Intel-based PC Blades in conjunction with a Unix Server. In another performance test more than half a billion EDRs were rated on a 16-CPU HP Superdome server with an attached array of 16 PC Blades. This form of hybrid machine mix has not been available previously and typically could result in a cost saving of 25 per cent. Scalability in all standard server cases was linear, and in the hybrid configuration was linear up to about 20 PC Blades. InterconnecT is the worlds most powerful, flexible and reliable system for domestic, international and ITU-based billing and settlements, and also the most widely used interconnection billing system globally. It is designed to meet the functionality and performance requirements of a dynamic telecommunications market by dealing with high event volumes and supporting a complex range of products and services. InterconnecT v7 takes settlement to the next level by also supporting inter partner settlement for IP-based services offered over next generation networks. This includes multi-party settlement with a variety of enterprises such as content providers and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), for services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), content downloads and data transfers. Interconnect is used by over 200 of the world’s leading carriers including France Telecom, Vodafone, Orange and Hutchison’s ‘3’ Mobile Group and Saudi Telecom Corporation. InterconnecT can be installed rapidly, and its multi-lingual, multi-currency client/server technology offers the performance, functionality and reliability sought by leading carriers to maximise revenue potential of their networks.
