Google Pay launches Split a Bill feature in Singapore

Tuesday 29 September 2020 13:16 CET | News

Google has unveiled a new feature, called Split a Bill, for its Google Pay platform in Singapore.

According to 9to5google, thanks to the new launch, Singapore-based consumers are also offered the PayNow system at another two local banks in the region, being able to purchase cinema tickets at Golden Village and Shaw Theaters. Additionally, a reward scheme that gives consumers cashback on qualifying purchases is also included.

Furthermore, as Google Pay enables its users to browse cuisines and order takeout or delivery with the Order Food feature, the addition of Split a Bill might facilitate requesting and receiving payments after their meal. Moreover, the feature allows consumers to create recurring payees so that the process is streamlined each time they want to share costs.

They are also allowed  to create groups to organise and manage payments with the ability to divide bills and other joint expenses all from one single place. Besides, Google hinted that the Split a Bill option may be launched to Google Pay globally in the future. However, no further details were shared, 9to5google stated.
