Fortumo opens office in India, appoints Sanjay Sinha as General Manager

US-based mobile payments services provider Fortumo has opened an office in New Delhi, India and appointed Sanjay Sinha as General Manager for Fortumo India.

Fortumo has been operating in India since September when the company launched direct carrier billing supporting the users of Vodafone, Airtel, Idea and Tata Docomo. Fortumo is covering 70% of mobile subscribers in India.

Sanjay Sinha has worked in the mobile payments industry for more than a decade. His prior experience includes work at Yahoo India, ACL Wireless and CellNext.

Founded in 2007, Fortumo is a developer and mobile payments provider, enabling app and game developers to monetize users via micro-payments. Fortumo is backed by Intel Capital and Greycroft Partners and has offices in Estonia, San Francisco and Beijing.

In recent news, Fortumo has entered a partnership with Kyivstar, a mobile operator in Central and Eastern Europe.
