eXI Introduces Dual RFID-Barcode Solution

The solution will allow users to track their assets with barcodes and RFID tags simultaneously and within the same system. Hybrid readers have facilitated eXI in developing a mobile asset management solution that uses both bar code and RFID technology. The Pocket PC units are based on the Symbol 8146 and provide the portability and wireless connectivity required to track mobile assets. The solution allows companies to benefit from the more robust RFID tracking solutions without disrupting their existing bar code system. It also gives users flexibility without having to make the massive investment in infrastructure that would be needed to convert from bar codes to RFID all at once. Some of eXIs existing customers using barcodes have demanded a better solution. Today, they have difficulty with the readability and lack of functionality of just barcodes. By marrying barcode and RFID technologies, eXIwill provide a complete solution more suitable for harsh environments. Users will save time spent on scanning all the barcodes and improve the accuracy of the data received.
