Ericsson signs managed services and GSM infrastructure contract with Brasil Telecom

Ericsson has been chosen to establish, operate and maintain Brasil Telecoms GSM Core operations in the region of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Brasília, and radio network in the region of Rio Grande do Sul.

The Managed Services contract is under five-year period and includes GSM infrastructure as well as the day-to-day management of Brasil Telecoms network. Ericsson has successfully managed Brasil Telecoms fixed network since 2002. Under the new agreement Ericsson takes full responsibility for operation and maintenance as well as optimization of Brasil Telecoms GSM network in Rio Grande do Sul. This contract reinforces Ericsson leadership in GSM and prime position in the fast growing Managed Services market. It also demonstrates Ericssons strength to work as a partner with operators to reduce costs and improve efficiency. The contract with Brasil Telecom is one of several major Managed Services agreement announced by Ericsson this year, which further confirms Ericssons clear leadership in managed services globally and in Latin America.
