Ericsson awarded GSM network expansion contract in Hebei, China

Ericsson has signed a USD 50 million GSM network expansion contract with Hebei Mobile Communication Co., Limited. (Hebei Mobile) in Hebei Province, China.

Under the contract, Ericsson will provide Hebei Mobile with network equipment and professional services. The contract will further enhance the strategic partnership between Ericsson and Hebei Mobile. In 1987, Ericsson started its cooperation with Hebei Mobile by supplying Hebei Provinces first mobile communications system, an analog TACS system. In 1995, Ericsson helped Hebei Mobile build its first GSM network. In 2001, Ericsson deployed GPRS and Intelligent Network in Hebei Province and signed an agreement to provide its carrier-class Packet Backbone Network. In 2004 Ericsson started to provide Hebei Mobile with systems and solutions in GPRS, LMDS, Mini-Link and TEMS.
