Epic Games partners Fortumo to launch carrier billing

Tuesday 9 June 2020 13:33 CET | News

Epic Games, a video game, software  developer, and publisher, and Fortumo, a mobile technology company, have launched a carrier billing partnership.

This means that Epic Games has integrated Fortumo’s carrier billing platform to collect payments for Fortnite Battle Passes, game purchases in the Epic Games Store, and other  Epic Games content. So far, the first country where carrier billing has been launched is Spain.

Fortumo and Epic Games collaborated to create a business case for carrier billing, with Fortumo helping to identify suitable mobile operators who would match the mapped requirements. Therefore, rather than integrating and launching each mobile operator separately, using Fortumo enables Epic Games to launch multiple carriers through one integration.

This requires carriers to provide new features for carrier billing such as dynamic pricing, token-based charging, and automated refunds.
