epay parters with PayPal for QR code payments

Tuesday 7 September 2021 13:40 CET | News

Germany-based full-service payment provider epay has announced the integration of the PayPal QR code into its point-of-sale (POS) solution.

With this collaboration, epay is expanding its portfolio of mobile payment methods for brick-and-mortar retailing and giving retail partners access to PayPal customers in Germany. Retailers who have implemented epay's checkout integration software can add PayPal's QR code at the POS. According to a PayPay representative, the companies aim to help merchants offer their customers a larger selection of payment options at the POS by integrating the contactless PayPal QR code.

If the customer wants to pay with PayPal, they open the QR code in the PayPal app on their smartphone and present it to the cashier who scans the code. The amount to be paid is displayed directly in the app and the customer selects his preferred payment method stored in his PayPal account and confirms the payment on his smartphone. The customer and cashier will immediately receive a confirmation of the transaction.
