Tuesday 3 November 2020 11:25 CET | News

Australia-based payment system provider eftpos has acquired the instant payment service Beem It.

The app allows users to send and receive money using their smartphones, regardless of their bank of choice. Beem It has informed that since its inception up until September 2020, the transactions on its platform have exceeded USD 1 billion.

The acquisition comes as eftpos plans to move further into the digital ecosystem. The company has mentioned that the payment system will remain wallet agnostic and that it will support multiple e-wallets.

Beem It plans to leverage the infrastructure and cost benefits provided by eftpos to further develop and expand its current offering.
