Dutch Attraction Park Efteling Pilots Mobile Ticketing

As of this week it is possible to enter Dutch attraction park Efteling with an SMS text message based on mobile ticketing technology from LogicaCMG.

During the winter period which lasts from the 6th of December 2003 until the 18th of January 2004 Efteling is piloting the solution and mobile tickets (m-tickets) can be ordered on the Efteling website. Users no longer need to buy their entrance ticket at the counter or in stores, but receive a mobile ticket via SMS on their mobile phone. With mobile ticketing, Efteling further extends its customer service facilities. Purchasing entrance tickets becomes more convenient because participants are no longer dependent on opening hours of vending points, but can order their ticket from home or wherever they are. The m-tickets can be ordered via a special order form on the Efteling internet site and payments are done via credit card. When the payment is completed, the participant receives an SMS message enclosing a special, two-dimensional barcode. With this code visitors can directly walk up to the control points at Efteling, where the barcode is scanned and entrance to the park is granted, thus avoiding queues at the parks vending point. A mobile ticket costs the same as a normal ticket via pre sales. Consumers are not charged for the SMS message. Mobile ticketing, which was developed by LogicaCMG, enables users to receive tickets on their mobile phone. It takes care of the purchase, payment, distribution and validation of a so-called m-ticket. Mobile ticketing can be used for all sorts of tickets, such as entrance tickets, transport tickets, vouchers and coupons.
