China Telecom has launched a mobile payments service for smartphone users.

With this solution, customers are enabled to use near field communication technology and pay for transportation, dining and shopping. Also, NFC-capable smartphones will enable authentication of a persons identity, check-in at airports and access offices with the swipe of a mobile phone.

This mobile payments service was built in cooperation with a dozen domestic financial organisations.

In August 2013, China Telecom revealed that its messaging product Yixin will focus on online payment.
