Birdstep Technology opens office in China

The new Birdstep office will be located in the prestigious Zhangjiang High-tech Park centrally located in Shanghai in the Pudong district. The establishment of the office in China will be completed within the previously communicated cost frames. Birdstep Wireless Portfolio Birdsteps Intelligent Mobile IP Client enables secure and continuous connectivity of mobile devices through any network - including LAN, WLAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular. Birdsteps Mobile IP client also offers a unique VPN on/off feature that automatically leverages a companys existing VPN when accessing external, unsecured networks, such as public hot spots or cellular connections. Birdstep Wireless Access Software Portfolio consists of the Birdstep IP Zone Server for secure access and authentication for public WLAN, the Nomadic Portal for enabling local free and billable services and device-independent publication of local information by means of XML structured content, and the Billing Abstraction Layer for implementing multiple billing methods, such as credit card payments, subscription memberships, pre-paid, etc. The solution supports high-speed access to information and services for users of PDAs and laptops. Secure and continuous connectivity between WLAN Zones and GSM/GPRS networks will in the future be achieved by means of the integrated support for Mobile IP.
