Walmart, Deliv end online grocery partnership

Tuesday 12 February 2019 14:12 CET | News

Retail corporation Walmart and logistics startup Deliv have put an end to their same-day grocery delivery partnership.

According to Reuters, Deliv, which was one of Walmart’s earliest partners with pilot programmes in the US (Miami and San Jose), ended the partnership via a ninety-day termination notice, and the two companies stopped working with each other.

Deliv offers scheduled same-day deliveries through gig drivers, a model that can work well with fast order processing and a good ability to predict demand and robust volumes. Walmart is now working mostly with restaurant delivery companies that deliver an order as and when it is generated, according to sources.

In December 2018, Walmart and Rakuten have officially opened the first Walmart ecommerce store in Japan, on the Rakuten Ichiba internet shopping mall.
