UPS acquires e-commerce firm Kiala

United Parcel Service (UPS), an international package delivery company, has acquired Kiala, a Belgium-based e-commerce firm, which provides delivery services to consumer who purchase online.

The financial terms of the deal have not been yet disclosed. Via the acquisition, UPS will be able to expand its service portfolio for business-to-consumer deliveries.

Kiala was launched in 2001 as a privately owned company and currently operates in five countries, including Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain. The company has developed a platform which enables online retailers to provide shoppers with the option of having their products delivered where they want.

UPS delivers packages and documents across the US and in other countries and territories. The company also offers global supply chain services and transportation, mostly in the US.
