Google pilots Shoploop, a mobile video shopping platform

Google has piloted a video shopping platform to help consumers spot a product, get expert reviews, and purchase it – all in a single platform.

According to The Hindu, the platform is called Shoploop and enables a more interactive shopping experience than buying from other ecommerce sites where consumers must scroll through images, titles, and descriptions. The initiative comes to improve the overall shopping experience, as previously users that found products on Instagram had to jump to YouTube to see a demo or tutorial, and then move to an ecommerce site to finally complete the purchase.

Therefore, Google will provide product reviews from real people who are experts in a particular area. Accordingly, Shoploop will introduce consumers to new products in under 90 seconds through videos, while creators will display and give demonstrations of products like nail stickers, hair products, or makeup.

Moreover, consumers can either save the product to buy it later or complete the purchase from the merchant’s website. The option of sharing videos with their friends and family, while following their preferred Shoploop creators is also available.

To benefit from the feature, users should visit shoploop.app, which is available only on mobile devices at the moment. However, Google plans to bring it to desktop users soon. On the other hand, content creators or store owners from the beauty industry can apply through the website to be an exclusive Shoploop creator, The Hindu reported.
