Wednesday 7 November 2012 08:59 CET | News

India-based e-commerce website Flipkart has received Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) 2.0 certification.

The certification has been awarded by SISA Information Security, a security assessor from PCI Security Standards Council after an extensive independent audit.

PCI-DSS is a payment card security standard that evaluates payment account data security by assessing the company’s network architecture, software design, security policies, procedures and protective practices. The PCI requirements have been developed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which includes American Express, Discover, JCB International, MasterCard and Visa.

Additionally, Flipkart has launched a ‘Save Card’ feature on its technology platform which enables users to save and invoke the details of an existing credit or debit card in their account.

Flipkart is an Amazon-like e-commerce website which offers books, electronics, mobile phones, games and software. In 2012, the company has purchased Indian competitor online shopping website Lets Buy.
