In Denmark, the ecommerce turnover was worth EUR 19.5 billion in 2019, according to data coming from the Denmark Ecommerce report from RetailX. However, the growth that is expected to register in 2020 (10%) would be the lowest in many years, Ecommerce News Europe reports.
In 2019, the preferred card payment method online was Dankort (62.9%), followed by Visa (15%) and Mastercard (12.5%). After 2020, when it comes to payment methods, the report claims that the e-wallet will be the most popular one, while cards will decrease in popularity. It is expected that bank transfers will gain in popularity as well, just like e-invoice.
The study also shows that most online shoppers (27%) in Denmark order a few times per month, while 24% do this every month and 18% every third month. Many consumers prefer to shop online abroad, with 51% of online shoppers ordering from other countries in 2019.
In terms of devices used for online shopping in Denmark, the desktop is the most popular one (50%), followed by the smartphone (33%) and the tablet (15%).
